AGL announces new CEO

AGL has appointed Andrew Vesey as the company's new CEO.

Vesey's appointment comes after a six month global search.

He will join the company after stepping down from his role as executive vice president at The AES Corporation.

Speaking on the appointment AGL chair Jeremy Maycock said "Vesey brings a strong understanding of generation technologies and operational excellence programs in a wide variety of generation types, including coal, gas, hydro, solar, and wind".

"He also has experience in research, development, and commercialisation of new technologies that are likely to shape the future of electricity markets," Maycock added.

Vesey will join the company on 12 January, next year, with Michael Fraser stepping down as the interim head on 11 February 2015.
