Are there women in your business doing amazing work? Get your nominations in for the 2014 Women in Industry Awards.
The 2014 Women in Industry Awards recognises and rewards the achievements of women working in the industrial sectors, and aims to raise the profile of women within industry, as well as promote excellence.
Australian Mining has teamed up with Manufacturers’ Monthly and PACE to acknowledge women who have achieved success through their invaluable leadership, innovation and commitment to their industries.
And if the early response is anything to go by, the mining industry is more than prepared and well-versed at raising the profile of women.
From great retention initiatives to women working as engineers, managers and business development executives in some of the nation’s biggest mining operations – it’s clear to see the talented ladies mining is producing.
But females still make up less than 15 per cent of the country’s mining workforce, and the industry has known for a long time that this needs to change and is working towards closing the gap.
Editor-in-chief of Cirrus Media’s industrial publications, Cole Latimer, said the awards program was important in recognising the contributions being made to the changing face of industry.
“Though female participation has risen across all industrial sectors in Australia, companies are still focusing on more innovative attraction and retention strategies to foster this growing talent and support young women working in the sector,” he said.
“Women already working in the sector make up a big part of these support programs.
“They are paving the way for others and achieving great success, and we thinks this needs to be recognised in its own right."
Any women working in the industrial sector can enter the awards, with the event culminating with an awards dinner at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Wednesday the 25th of June.
