200 jobs to be cut from Wheatstone

Up to 200 jobs have been slashed from Chevron’s Wheatstone LNG project this week.

The majority of the positions are white collar roles, according to the West.

It comes as the operation seeks to dramatically curb its ballooning costs and to align work activities with achieving first LNG at (its other LNG project) Gorgon and Wheatstone,” Chevron stated.

Those cuts, 50 of which are believed to be from Chevron’s project team and 150 from Bechtel’s on site workforce, were told to wrap up by last November.
