Peabody has announced Michael J. Flannigan has been appointed as the new senior vice president of global government affairs.
He will step into the role immediately, and report to Peabody president Glenn Kellow.
According to the miner Flannigan will be responsible “for all aspects of the company’s international, federal, and state government affairs”.
He succeeds Fredrick Palmer, who was the SVP for government relations, and who has now been named as a special advisor to the office of the executive chairman.
Flannigan previously served as the VP of global government advocacy outreach for Peabody, “where he was responsible for the policy and political aspects of Global Advocacy activities,” the miner said.
Prior to working for Peabody he served with Rio Tinto as its global practice leader of government and corporate relations.
