​Man dies at NZ limestone quarry

A man has died overnight at limeworks attached to a limestone quarry near Waimate, in New Zealand.

It is understood the fatal industrial incident occurred whilst the man, in his 40s, was operating machinery, according to Stuff.co.nz

"One employee has been confirmed as deceased at the scene. The death has been referred to the coroner," Canterbury police said.

The quarry, where the incident occurred, was extracting the lime for agricultural reasons

The incident occurred south of Timaru, on the South Island.
