GE Mining has appointed its CEO for Australia and NZ, Steve Sargent, as the new president and CEO of GE Mining.
Sargent will replace Geoff Knox, who has headed the division since it was created in 2012.
“For me, the opportunity to lead GE’s Global Mining business brings with it new challenges and I’m excited about our potential for future growth as the mining industry rebounds,” Sargent said.
Following on from the promotion of Sargent, Geoff Culbert has been appointed to backfill his position as CEO of GE Australia and New Zealand.
According to GE, under Sargent’s leadership the company has repositioned itself from being predominately a finance company to becoming a technology and innovation company, and has benefited from its investments in the oil and gas space.
"GE has enjoyed tremendous success in this region over the past decade and I see a strong future for growth here. This is especially true for our infrastructure technology businesses where we are working closely with our customers and communities in the areas of cleaner energy, resources and healthcare. I am delighted to be returning to Australia for this role,” Culbert said.
Both Culbert and Sargent’s appointments are effective immediately.
