Alliance Aviation Services have won a five year FIFO contract for BHP’s iron ore operations.
The contract, with two one year expansion options, is the first for BHP’s iron ore operations although it does expand on an existing 12 year working relationship with the miner.
While Alliance did not give a dollar value for the contract it did state “this contract will be the largest customer contract ever entered into by the Alliance”.
It will allow the company to fly 36 sectors per week between Perth and BHP’s Coondewanna and Bariyuma airports.
This contract follows a 12 month period in which Alliance provided flights for BHP’s ad hoc mine shutdowns.
The new flying schedule will be fully operational by 9 June.
