Newcrest and Encounter break ground at Hutch’s Find

Newcrest Mining and Encounter Resources have started drilling at the Hutch’s Find prospect in the Tanami region of Western Australia.

Hutch’s Find has gold and arsenic anomalies over five kilometres of strike.

A reverse circulation (RC) drilling and diamond drilling program has shown that the area is well mineralised with multiple high-grade gold intersections.

The grades include 19 metres of 2.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 10 metres of 5.4 g/t gold and 0.5 metres of 17.2 g/t gold.

Encounter managing director Will Robinson said Hutch’s Find was located in one of the most sought-after gold regions in Australia.

“Extensive historical shallow geochemical drilling identified the large anomaly, but minimal deeper testing has been completed. We are initially targeting the source of their large-scale system with traverses of deep RC drilling,” Robinson said.

Drill testing is scheduled for multiple targets at the Watts and Selby joint ventures from September to November, targeting large scale gold deposits.

The results from Hutch’s Find drilling are expected in November this year.
