GLOBAL steel executive Lance Hockridge is the new CEO for Queensland Rail (QR).
Hockridge is currently the President North America of BlueScope Steel, a position which includes responsibility for BlueScope’s European and Middle East operations.
He is said to have an enviable record of achievement in senior transport, operational, manufacturing and human resource roles in BlueScope Steel and the BHP Billiton Group.
According to QR, Hockridge is most recently credited by BlueScope with having led a major turnaround of safety, production and financial performance in the BlueScope business in North America.
Hockridge’s previous role was group general manager of BHP Transport worldwide, where he is said to have enjoyed a strong relationship with QR.
He was also previously the chief of BHP’s Newcastle Steelworks and later President of the division responsible for the Port Kembla Steelworks and for New Zealand Steel.
Chief Operating Officer Steve Cantwell will continue to act as the CEO until Hockridge starts with QR.
