Moxa’s latest private 5G networks accelerate future mining operations

Moxa, a global leader in industrial communications and networking, offers new dedicated cellular solutions for private 5G proof-of-concept (PoC) and proof-of-business (PoB) industrial applications.

Featuring ultra-low latency and high-bandwidth connections, dedicated cellular communication networks built by Moxa are proven to enhance reliability and flexibility throughout the industrial site, as Moxa’s complete array of Internet of Things (IoT)-ready and certified devices work seamlessly to deliver superior network performance.

Moxa’s 5G onboard router is designed for moving vehicle communications in a 5G network with Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB). It offers more than 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) throughput and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) support for 50 milliseconds (ms) recovery times with dual cellular tunnels.

The router forms an integral part of Moxa’s one-of-a-kind and highly scalable private 5G network solutions, perfect for large scale operations.

With more than 35 years of OT experience in various industries, Moxa is the one-stop shop for ambitious and forward-looking mining operators seeking to build best-in-industry private 5G networks by combining industrial networking devices and protocols, such as Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINET, and OPC UA for industrial applications.

Moxa’s mobile industrial networking solutions are backed by dedicated 5G business and R&D teams. Module-level and system-level tests meeting 3GPP 5G criteria are regularly conducted to allow for greater customisation, maximum reliability, and ever-improving performance.

Advantages such as high-density device connectivity, low power consumption, and integration with other networking technologies and solutions help deliver better return on investment for industrial operations of all scales.

Moreover, Moxa also works with industry-leading ecosystem partners to enhance its capabilities in 5G system analysis, troubleshooting, and interoperability and tackle the major challenges of private 5G deployments.

“With a proven track record of more than 20 successful private 5G POC and POB projects in vertical markets including rail, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, Moxa is well on track to becoming the world’s first to deploy a private 5G network for industrial automation at a high-end manufacturing site,” Director of Moxa R&D Centre David Chen said.
