Tivan has secured Northern Territory Government funding to support exploration drilling at its Molyhil tungsten project, as the company advances plans to expand the project’s resource base and progress development studies.
The company was awarded $141,237 under Round 19 of the Northern Territory Government’s Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations (GDC) program, a competitive grants initiative funded through the Resourcing the Territory program and administered by the Northern Territory Geological Survey.
The funding will contribute towards three diamond drill holes totalling approximately 600m at Molyhil, located about 220km north-east of Alice Springs.
The drilling program is designed to test Molyhil-style tungsten-molybdenum magnetite skarn mineralisation associated with a series of coincident gravity and magnetic anomalies identified through detailed geophysical interpretation and 3D modelling.
According to Tivan, the drilling will assess the source and extent of the anomalies and evaluate their potential to host additional mineralisation beyond the existing Molyhil deposit.
The project is currently the subject of a pre-feasibility study focused on proposed mining and processing operations that would produce tungsten scheelite and molybdenite concentrates for export markets. In April 2026, Tivan released a scoping study that confirmed the project’s technical and economic robustness based on the study assumptions.
Stage 1 drilling at Molyhil has been completed, targeting four tungsten prospects, with assay results expected shortly. Geophysical surveys across both the Molyhil tungsten project and the Sandover fluorite project have also been completed, with results anticipated in the near term.
Tivan is now progressing approvals and planning for Stage 2 drilling, including an application for an Environmental (Mining) Licence with the Northern Territory Government.
The company is targeting the commencement of Stage 2 drilling in July 2026, with the program set to include exploration, resource definition, metallurgical, geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling.
Tivan also confirmed it has further advanced joint venture discussions with Sumitomo Corporation following the extension of a memorandum of understanding covering the development, funding, marketing and operation of the Molyhil project.
