Australian Mining brings readers the latest corporate appointments and departures impacting the local and international resources industry.
Peter Tinley has been named as the Western Australian Government’s new mines and petroleum minister following the Labor Party’s victory in last weekend’s state election. In addition to the mines and petroleum role, Tinley will also look after the veterans affairs and youth portfolios.
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) welcomed the ministerial appointments announcement. Chief executive Reg Howard-Smith said CME would work closely with government to ensure industry’s interests were well represented.
“We are particularly looking forward to working with the new minister for mines and petroleum, Peter Tinley,” Howard-Smith said.
“This portfolio is one of the most important to the sector and the WA economy. Mr Tinley has proved to be a strong voice within the WA Labor Party since his election to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly in 2009 and we look forward to working with him on a range of advocacy issues.”
