With the federal election just one day away, miners across the country are being given a range of options to ensure they do not miss out on their right to vote.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) said early voting options were available to assist workers in the mining sector who might be time-poor on Saturday due to shift work or other working arrangements like FIFO.
Early voting centres will be operating across the country, including at domestic and international terminals at some airports.
While in other states, early voting centres will be operational out of charter terminals.
Voters can find the location and operating hours of their nearest early voting centre at www.aec.gov.au or by calling 13 23 26.
FIFO out workers can apply for a postal vote online at www.aec.gov.au or pick up a form from all AEC and Australia Post offices or by calling 13 23 26.
Postal votes must be completed and posted back to the AEC on or before election day and voters only have 13 days after the election for their ballot papers to be received by the AEC.
“Voting arrangements for fly-in fly-out workers for the 2013 federal election are just part of the AEC’s efforts to ensure that every eligible Australian has the opportunity to vote,” the AEC said.
