Metso Outotec has ended its Australian conveyor labour services following a review of its business portfolio in Australia.
The company’s conveyor labour services are related to its belt splicing and associated services.
Metso Outotec senior vice president, professional services Martin Karlsson said the decision was made so that the company can focus its attention in areas where it has a larger presence.
“This decision is a part of our Field Service strategy to focus our service efforts on areas where Metso Outotec has strong capabilities, proprietary technologies, and large installed base,” he said.
“We will continue to provide our customers with conveyor services and original wear and spare parts where we have a strong, competitive offering.”
Karlsson said local conveyor maintenance services companies are well-equipped to fill in the gap of its conveyor labour services discontinuation.
“The Australian market is well served by local companies in the conveyor maintenance services business, and we feel confident that customers’ needs will be covered by these companies after our withdrawal,” he said.
Metso Outotec has confirmed that despite the discontinuation of its local labour services, it will continue to provide conveyor parts, components and technical support.
The company has around 200 field services employees in Australia with service centres across major mining areas.
It offers a range of mobile and stationary conveyors, parts, accessories and services for the mining industry in Australia.
Metso merged with minerals business Outotec last year to form a new company that focusses on sustainable technology, solutions and services.
The company is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.
