Marmota has returned its first assay results from the Aurora Tank project, which commenced drilling in November 2017.
The attention of the South Australian explorer of gold, copper and uranium, is primarily focused on its Gawler Craton tenements, 50km northeast of the lucrative Challenger gold mine in Woomera, South Australia.
Diamond core drilling returned highly prospective results including five metres at nine grams of gold per tonne (hole two), nine metres at 2.4 grams of gold per tonne (hole one), two metres at nine grams of gold per tonne (hole four), and 1.3 metres at 4.1 grams of gold per tonne (hole six).
Six holes were drilled in total at its Goshawk prospect, though not all core was recoverable due to soft rock conditions. The results are good news for the company, which reported positive (though wildly varying) one metre-intersections of anywhere up to 101 grams per tonne in September, and returned leach test gold recoveries of 94–97 per cent in late October 2017.
The company also announced a strategic alliance with WPG Resources the following month to further push development at Aurora Tank.
However, the company admits in its latest statement that “further RC drilling is required to determine if these high-grade intersections also point to significant mineralisation at depth”.
