The first load of Core Lithium spodumene direct shipping ore (DSO) product from its Finniss mine in the Northern Territory has been crushed and will be making its way to Darwin port.
The 15,000 dry metric tonnes DSO sale was tendered on a CIF basis to several pre-screened participants active in the lithium-ion battery supply chain, with the cargo ultimately selling for $US951/dmt.
Core chief executive Gareth Manderson said the transportation of DSO would mark another signification milestone for Finniss, and is a very positive step towards the objective to export from Darwin port before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Blair Duncan has tendered his resignation as Core’s chief operating officer, a position he has held for more than five years.
He will be replaced by Mike Stone, a senior operational leader and mining professional who has held multiple leadership positions across numerous commodities in the resources industry.
More recently, he held the positions of Associate Director of Mining with KPMG, general manager of the Oyu Tolgoi open pit operation and was chief advisor productivity within RioTinto.
