MACA secures contract extension at Duketon South

Regis Resources has awarded MACA a contract extension for open pit mining services at the Duketon South gold operations near Laverton, Western Australia.

MACA’s contract extension will be for five years from this month with the option for an additional five-year extension.

The project will continue to consist of open pit mining services, including drilling and blasting, and loading and hauling.

According to MACA, the contract is the result of a collaborative approach with Regis, utilising technology to optimise the mine planning across the operations and ensuring the most efficient use of both machinery and human resources.

The contractor expects the new agreement will generate approximately $590 million in revenue over the initial five-year term.

MACA executive director Geoff Baker said the contractor was delighted to continue its long-standing relationship with Regis at Duketon.

“The additional tenure ensures we are able to invest in more efficient equipment in order to continue to deliver quality mining services at the lowest cost to Regis,” Baker said.

The contract for the Duketon South operations includes the Rosemount, Garden Well, Erlistoun, Baneygo, Toohey’s Well and potentially other satellite projects in the region.
