Lynas Rare Earths has announced the appointment of Pol Le Roux as interim chief executive officer following the retirement of Amanda Lacaze later this month.
Le Roux currently serves at the company’s chief operating officer and is responsible for operating sites in both Malaysia and Western Australia as well as the supply chain, major projects, health, safety and environment and research and innovation teams.
Since joining the company in 2010, Le Roux has held multiple roles including vice president of sales and marketing and vice president downstream, helping to deliver what Lynas describes as “sales growth and improved operational performance”.
“Pol has over 20 years of experience in the rare earths industry and is recognised among our customers, investors and industry for his extensive knowledge of Lynas’ operations and the rare earths market,” Lynas board chair John Humphrey said in a statement.
“As interim CEO, Pol will provide continuity and ensure the company continues to progress with the Towards2030 growth strategy during the transition period.”
Le Roux, throughout his multiple job roles at the rare earths giant, has led sustainability initiatives such as life cycle analysis and mine to magnet traceability work.
His previous experience includes 26 years with French chemicals company Rhodia/Rhone-Poulenc (now part of Solvay) where he held a range of roles, most recently leading Rhodia’s aroma performance division as division director.
It’s understood that a formal update on the search for a CEO will be made in due course.
