Bucyrus and the CSIRO have announced a non-exclusive worldwide license agreement for the Longwall Automation Steering Committee (LASC) technology.
According to Bucyrus Australia managing director John Cassells, the integration of LASC technology into its longwall automation systems will strengthen its position as a leading provider.
“Bucyrus automation systems have been the market leader for a long time, providing our customers with highly productive longwall performance through consistency, reliability and safety,” said Cassells.
The manufacturer has been working with the CSIRO on both face alignment and horizon control for a number of years.
The technology has been tested at BMA’s Broadmeadow, Xstrata’s Beltana and Anglo’s Grasstree coal mines.
The company said the LASC technology will complement its Coal Interface Detection (CID) and remote-sensing developments.
