Kalamazoo Resources is stepping up its push to create a long-life gold hub in Western Australia’s Pilbara, securing the Xanadu gold project and expanding its Ashburton gold project as gold prices remain strong.
The company has acquired nine tenements spanning 142.4km² from Platina Resources, directly adjoining and along strike of Kalamazoo’s 1.44-million-ounce Ashburton project.
Kalamazoo has also been granted a new 28.3km² exploration licence on the project’s eastern boundary, lifting its total footprint in the region to 380.2km².
The Xanadu ground includes a suite of promising historical drill results such as 5m at 8.71 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 16m, 20m at 2.25g/t from 16m, and 11m at 5.32g/t from 17m.
Mineralisation styles include Carlin-type prospects and disseminated pyrite-hosted systems, which are comparable to those already defined at Ashburton.
Kalamazoo said the acquisitions align with its regional growth strategy to expand Ashburton’s gold inventory, extend mine life and position the project for development through its fast-tracked Mt Olympus scoping study.
The study, expected in the fourth quarter of 2025, will outline the best development pathway for stage one of Ashburton and assess processing and financing options.
“We are very pleased with the strong progress in fast-tracking the scoping study which will establish the optimal pathway, processing strategy, and financing options for the rapid development of the first stage of the Ashburton gold project,” Kalamazoo chief executive officer Luke Mortimer said.
“By acquiring the Xanadu gold project and expanding surrounding exploration tenure, Kalamazoo is advancing its growth strategy to substantially expand Ashburton’s resource base and potential life-of-mine.
“The scoping study, expected in fourth quarter of 2025, is set to showcase compelling economics for the proposed stage one development and reinforce Kalamazoo’s status as a significantly undervalued gold company.”
Located 95km south of Tom Price, with strong transport links and services nearby, Xanadu strengthens Kalamazoo’s ambition of establishing a multi-deposit gold camp in one of Western Australia’s most prospective gold districts.
