June quarter production results

Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) increased its uranium oxide production in the June 2009 quarter by 44% when compared to the June 2008 quarter, the company said in a statement yesterday.

According to the company, it was able to produce 1481 tonnes as a result of improved grades and mill throughput.

This result was also 22% higher than the March 2009 quarter.

ERA mined 590,000 tonnes of ore and 5.53 million tonnes of material in the quarter.

These results represent a respective increase of 48% and 23% compared to the previous quarter.

The end of the wet season allowed better access to the pit as well as improved waste sequencing and ore removal, the company said.

However, the company also stated ore mining had dropped 10% from the June 2008 result, as a result of mine sequencing.

Material mined was 16% lower because of longer haul distances.
