THE Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has announced changes to the sponsorship, nomination and visa regulations affecting recruitment/labour hire and on-hire industry.
The changes prevent on-hire firms from applying for sponsorship or lodging new nominations under standard business sponsorships, other than where they are sponsoring someone to work in their own organisation. There will be some transitional arrangements covering applications lodged that will allow these applications to be considered under existing arrangements.
Australian based on-hire firms will be able to request access to a Labour Agreement that is expected to be established for the industry shortly.
