Hunter Ampcontrol jobs to be cut: ETU

A downturn in mining activity has been blamed by the Electrical
Trades Union for what it says is an imminent round of job cuts at Ampcontrol.

The ABC reports that the ETU believes there will be an undetermined number of redundancies at the electrical manufacturer and contractor.

Last week around 500 positions at coal mines near Singleton
were made redundant, with the lack of demand putting pressure on suppliers such as Ampcontrol.

Ampcontrol was established in 1968 and provides turnkey
lighting solutions for miners. It made dozens of positions redundant last year.
