The Eastern Goldfields has received a boost with the development of new housing estates.
The Hannan’s district in Kalgoorlie-Boulder will have 120 new homes built within the next 12 months.
The Western Australian Government has awarded a $14 million civil works contract to Ertech for two residential developments.
“Given the booming economy in the Goldfields, we have been working to speed up the land release process in the region,” planning and infrastructure minister Alannah MacTiernan said.
“Civil works will commence concurrently at both developments, to ensure a timely and efficient release of 80 lots, comprising both single residential and group housing sites offering a mix of apartments, townhouses, and cottage lot housing.”
The civil works will commence in August and be completed within about eight months.
To date, LandCorp has provided 86 residential lots at the Karlkurla Grove and Karlkurla Rise estates.
Almost all lots in Stage One of Karlkurla Rise sold on the day of release, with remaining lots selling within a few days of release.
The Urban Development Institute of Australia recently released a report that found Kalgoorlie is one of only three towns that are considered affordable in Western Australia.
The research compared 70 towns across the nation, measuring whether the borrowing capacity of the average household would allow them to purchase property at market price.
Other towns in Western Australia considered affordable were Geraldton and Karratha.
