Hastings Deering faced strong competition this year as a finalist at the 2018 Queensland Mining Awards (QMA) in the McLanahan Safety Award Category.
Hosted by the Bowen Basin Mining Club and the Queensland Resources Council, QMA 2018 celebrates the best of Queensland’s mining industry.
Hastings Deering was nominated in the safety category for its Driver Safety System, developed in collaboration with Caterpillar.
Up against strong competition, Hastings Deering has congratulated Mclanahan Safety Award winner Greyhound Australia for its innovation in Safer Transport Solutions.
Driver Safety System (DSS) is an in-cab detection system which uses artificial intelligence to pick up signs of fatigue and distraction in an operator. Our objective is to prevent fatigue before it sets in. To ensure this, an in-vehicle audio alarm is sounded combined with seat vibrations engaging the driver as soon as an event is detected.
Driver fatigue detection and in-cab monitoring help keep operators alert and alive.
