NITROGEN generator manufacturer Air Liquide has secured three contracts with world leading Mining companies for AMSA series Floxals.
Air Liquide’s Floxal nitrogen generator uses Air Liquide’s Medal polymer hollow fibre gas separation technology to prevent gas explosions in underground mines.
Anglo Coal, Austar Coal and Xstrata Coal are now using the technology.
Traditionally, heating events or high methane levels mean that mines must be evacuated, the seals shut and the mine must stabilise by itself.
There are mines which have had to be abandoned due to the inability to control these kinds of problems.
The Floxal units are said to eliminate the risk of spontaneous combustion and provide benefits to mines in terms of safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
