Flinders Mines approved for expanded iron ore project

Flinders Mines has received approval from the Department of Environment and Energy for expanded operations at its Pilbara iron ore project.

The company will be able to develop additional mine pits and infrastructure such as external access roads, airport, an ore processing facility, power station, an accommodation camp and a tailings storage facility.

The approval will also allow the mine to increase production from 15Mtpa to 25Mtpa.

The company said it was an “important primary approval milestone” for the project.
