RPMGlobal obtains Revolution Mining Software

RPMGlobal has acquired Canadian-headquartered mine scheduling optimisation company, the privately-owned Revolution Mining Software.

Revolution’s flagship product is its Schedule Optimisation Tool (SOT) which is used for strategic financial optimisation in underground mines, enabling planners to improve productivity and profitability.

The company created SOT after the Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corporation (MIRARCO) completed extensive research on how best to solve complicated mining industry programs.

SOT allows mine planners to generate life-of-mine schedules adhering to all specified precedence and operational constraints, optimising net present value (NPV) based on the user’s financial model.

As part of the acquisition, RPMGlobal will also acquire Revolution’s Attain and SurfaceSOT software solutions.

Attain ensures operational mine planning is systematically aligned with the long-range plan, ensuring companies optimise short-range schedules that are feasible with their long-range schedule.

SurfaceSOT, which can be used for all types of mining operations, maximises their NPV by optimising long-range schedules, including managing stockpiles and product blending while minimising re-handling of materials.

Once the acquisition is complete, all of Revolution’s employees and management team will move into RPMGlobal’s business and continue their roles focussed on transforming mining through innovative software solutions.

RPM Global chief executive officer and managing director Richard Mathews said the company is looking forward to welcoming the Revolution team to RPMGlobal and will invest further in SOT to deliver “even more innovative solutions” to customers.

“RPMGlobal was born from the belief that mining planning needs to be built on sound economics,” Mathews said.

“The Revolution Mining products strategy is completely aligned with that core value.”

Revolution Mining president Lorrie Fava added that part of its decision to join RPMGlobal was based on the company sharing its vision and passion for the solutions it delivers to the industry.

“To be able to be a part of a company with RPMGlobal’s pedigree and history is a very exciting prospect for the team at Revolution Mining,” Fava said.

“We look forward to joining the RPMGlobal team and are convinced that the Revolution Mining Software product suite will benefit from increased investment and the sales and marketing support that RPMGlobal can offer these products right around the world.”
