Gender pay gap in mining

McCrindle research has shown the mining sector in Australia has the second largest pay gap between males and females.

The research showed that while females have been closing the gap in workforce participation in the past decade, the pay gap between genders has grown. This is because the salaries have risen in industries that are mostly male dominated, as opposed to female dominated industries.

Mining is one of the top three industries by highest median salary that is also one of the three industries with the highest percentage of males employed compared to women.
