Blasting at Anglo American’s Kolomela iron ore mine [IMAGES]

These images show a blast sequence at Anglo American's Kolomela iron ore mine in South Africa.

Located in the Northern Cape Province in South Africa, the name Kolomela means to 'dig deeper'.

Construction at the site was completed at the end of 2011, with first production delivered during the first half of 2012.

Kolomela ramped up to full capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum of direct shipping ore this year.

Employing approximately 840 people, the mine has a total mineral resource of 373 million tonnes of iron ore and has an estimated mine life of 28 years.
