Driving growth in a changing climate with environmental intelligence
Driving growth at mining operations in a changing climate with environmental intelligence
Frost and Sullivan’s latest report on environmental intelligence has shown that mining operators are facing increasing challenges with meeting production targets, achieving social licence to operate and are up against stricter regulations.
Over 270 operational managers around the world were interviewed for the report and over 50 per cent of total respondents have experienced dramatic or significant impacts on their organisation on account of environmental factors over the last three years.
Insights from the report show that Mining operations are experiencing environment-related factors on a scale of 1-10 in the organisation through:
- Health & safety risks of operations to their workforce (7.5/10)
- More stringent environmental regulations / penalties / reporting and compliance requirements (7.3/10)
- Impact to bottom-line through unplanned stoppage as a result of complaints, community opposition or health safety environment (HSE) breaches (7/10)
