THE Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA) has launched the Engineering: Design Your World DVD in Darwin.
The DVD will be distributed to high schools nationally to address the skills shortage in the Australian engineering industry.
“The project provides the industry with an opportunity to revamp its image and a chance to continue the growth and success of the engineering profession,” ACEA chief executive Megan Motto said.
The project, endorsed by the Territory’s Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET), aims to demystify the role of engineers among secondary students by exploring opportunities offered in the engineering profession.
The DVD showcases projects from various disciplines to exemplify the diversity of the profession. It includes interviews with young engineers from ACEA member firms who discuss both the challenges and rewards of a career in engineering, in addition to teaching notes on engineering disciplines and educational requirements.
