Drilling to safety

Australian mining products company Industrea Limited has signed a $2 million contract to supply underground directional drilling and gas drainage equipment to China’ Shanxi Asian American Daning Energy.

The equipment will be used at the Daning underground coal mine in the Shanxi Province, approximately 580 kilometres south-west of Beijing.

According to Industrea managing director and CEO Robin Levison, Daning mine has been a leader in the removal of coal seam gas.

“The Daning mine has been a role model for other Chinese coal mines in successfully removing very high methane gas content from its coal seam, and the effective drainage of this potentially dangerous gas has had an enormous benefit in improving mine safety,” he said.

“Industrea is very proud to be able to make a key contribution, given the rapid growth of the Chinese underground coal industry and the safety threat posed by methane gas.”
