Drilling highlights shallow antimony potential at Sunday Creek

Southern Cross Gold Consolidated has strengthened the critical minerals case for its Sunday Creek gold-antimony project in Victoria, with new drilling confirming high-grade antimony mineralisation directly above the planned exploration decline.

The latest six drill holes at the Golden Dyke prospect targeted the upper portion of the epizonal system, where antimony is expected to concentrate closest to surface. The best result returned 7.9 m at 19.9 g/t gold equivalent (2.8 g/t gold and 7.1 per cent antimony) from 363.1 m in hole SDDSC233, including 3.7 m at 37.5 g/t gold equivalent (3.5 g/t gold and 14.2 per cent antimony).

Southern Cross Gold Consolidated president and chief executive officer Michael Hudson said the results reinforced the project’s strategic importance.

“The critical mineral potential of this project is real, it is shallow, and it sits directly in the path of our decline,” Hudson said.

“What these results tell us is the antimony story at Sunday Creek is strong and is strategically significant, alongside the gold story.”

The company said results confirm antimony-rich mineralisation in the upper parts of the Sunday Creek system, consistent with epizonal gold-antimony deposits globally.

Individual assays reached up to 47 per cent antimony and 20.1 g/t gold over 0.13 m in SDDSC233, while another intercept returned 46.6 per cent antimony and 1.3 g/t gold over 0.13 m in SDDSC228.

Southern Cross Gold Consolidated said the project has now returned 108 composite intersections grading more than 10 per cent antimony, highlighting its potential relevance to Western defence and semiconductor supply chains.

The drilling program also identified four new vein sets across three holes and confirmed the continuity of the Golden Dyke mineralised system through infill drilling. Eleven drill rigs remain active at Sunday Creek, with results from a further 69 holes still pending.
