DR KARL Kruszelnicki has corrected comments that he made about the daily amount of carbon dioxide emitted from burning coal.
The correction comes after Kruszelnicki was criticised for his comments on clean coal technology.
“There is no such thing as clean coal,” Kruszelnicki said.
The Australian Coal Association, the Queensland Resources Council, and the New South Wales Minerals Council criticised Kruszelnicki’s comments, saying the comments were inaccurate, and ran counter to the evidence of thousands of scientists and engineers.
“The daily amount of carbon dioxide emitted from burning coal, when you liquify it, would fill a box 100 m on a side – not 1,000 m,” Kruszelnicki admitted.
“Every science/medicine journal tries not to make mistakes,” he said.
“Even so, they all have a section with mistakes they were alerted to in the previous issue. And they always rapidly, and openly in print, admit their mistakes.”
