Downer has secured five contracts worth more than $250 million for mining services at several operations sites.

The company was awarded three contracts to supply, manufacture, and deliver explosives and down the hole blasting services which included an up to five year contract at Newmont Asia Pacific’s Boddington Gold mine in WA; a three and a half year contract at the Karara mine site in WA, with an option for two, two year extensions; and a five year contract extension at Grange Resources’ Savage River site in Tasmania.

They had been providing services at Karara since 2012, and Savage River since 2007.

The company also secured an underground mining contract at Newmarket Gold’s Fosterville Gold mine for ground support services.

Downer’s Waanyi ReGen joint venture between its ReGen business and the Waanyi Prescribed Body Corporate, also won a three year contract to cover water and land management at the Century mine.

Downer CEO Grant Fenn said the contract wins with both new and existing customers reinforced the company’s mining services capabilities.
