Diggers and Dealers conference sold after 27 years

Kalgoorlie’s famous Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum has a new owner.

The Stokes family has agreed to sell its shareholding in Palace Securities, the company that owns Diggers and Dealers, after 27 years.

Its new owner is an entity associated with Sharon Giorgetta, the daughter of Diggers and Dealers chairman Nick Giorgetta, and Myles Ertzen.

According to a statement from Diggers and Dealers, the new owners remain committed to the structure and quality of the event, as well as maintaining the conference home in Kalgoorlie.

Sharon Giorgetta has a long family association with Kalgoorlie, and Ertzen is a mining executive and Western Australian School of Mines graduate.

Diggers and Dealers was launched by Kate Stokes’ late husband, Geoff. Kate Stokes said Geoff would be proud of how the event has developed.

“We are also delighted that the new custodians of Diggers and Dealers have such a strong pedigree and association with the mining industry. It was a major consideration in agreeing to sell our equity in the conference,” Kate said.

The management and operating team that has delivered Diggers and Dealers for many years will continue to drive the business.

It will work with Sharon Giorgetta and Ertzen to realise the vision that the Stokes family has developed since 1992.
