Delta Lithium has recruited financial advisory firm Bell Potter to conduct a strategic review of its Mt Ida lithium-gold project in Western Australia.
Located 100km west of Leonora in the eastern Goldfields Province, the Mt Ida lithium-gold project covers approximately 170 square kilometres of the Mt Ida-Ularring greenstone belt.
Delta Lithium recently upgraded the mineral resource estimate (MRE) for Mt Ida to 6.6 million tonnes (Mt) at 3.5 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold for 752,000 ounces (oz) of gold, representing an 82 per cent increase of contained gold.
Mt Ida will now undergo a strategic review, with Bell Potter to explore various options for gold opportunities at the project.
Once complete, Delta Lithium will use the strategic review to determine the best way to monetise the gold potential of Mt Ida’s Baldock deposit, which is one of the highest-grade undeveloped deposits in WA with a MRE of 4.8Mt at 4.4 g/t of gold for 674,000oz of gold.
The strategic review will progress concurrently with ongoing development studies and exploration, which aligns with Delta Lithium’s strategy to focus on its lithium assets.
“Delta Lithium’s strategic review of Mt Ida gold is a considered decision, catalysed by the significant recent growth in its mineral resource, and its emerging potential as a significant high-grade gold operation,” Delta Lithium managing director James Croser said.
“The broader Mt Ida project is a fantastic asset, hosting both sizeable gold and lithium Resources. Our shareholders know our core focus is lithium, and we will always look at the best way to deliver value creation for our shareholders.
“With the body of technical work we have recently completed on the gold opportunity, including a meaningful resource upgrade, an internal scoping study, metallurgical test work, and approvals for open pit and underground mining, it makes sense for us to consider all options for its ongoing development.
“We will assess the outcomes of this strategic review against Delta Lithium’s own development options, to ascertain the best way forward.”
