Contractor appointed for Oakajee project

Murchison Metals has appointed WorleyParsons to carry out the project management study at the Oakajee port and rail project.

In a statement released on Friday, Murchison executive chairman Paul Kopejtka said WorleyParsons would play a critical role in completing the project’s bankable feasibility study.

The company will also be involved in the design and engineering of both the port and rail components.

“As the Oakajee port and rail project gains momentum and proceeds towards development, [WorleyParsons] will provide more certainty with respect to the port and rail infrastructure required for the Stage 2 expansion of the world class Jack Hills iron ore project,” Kopejtka said.

Feasibility studies for both the port and rail project and the Jack Hills expansion should be completed by 2010.
