Contract extension for Macmahon

Construction and mining contractor Macmahon Holdings has been awarded a two year extension on its contract at BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam copper and uranium mine in South Australia, the company announced in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

The contract is worth $110 and will involve underground mine development work including shotcreting, cable bolting and associated works.

Mcmahon Holdings has been doing underground mine development work at Olympic Dam since 2004 and employs 180 people on the site. The contract has previously been extended four times.

“Over the past five years we have added further capacity to our mining business, and as such, we have been able to offer a more comprehensive package of services to our customers,” Macmahon Holdings chief executive Nick Bowen said.
