Queensland workers affected by mine closures and job cuts will receive assistance from a series of community forums to be held across the state’s centre this week.
Forums will be held at Blackwater from 24 March 2009, following discussion sessions at Moranbah and Dysart on Monday 23 March.
The sessions will provide information on skilling solutions, superannuation, and available jobs in the broader region.
They will also provide financial and personal counselling services for the wider community.
Facilitators have posted positive results from the forums held so far, and say attendees have used the facilities to their “maximum potential”.
The forums target the broader community and aim to provide assistance to those impacted from adversely affected mining companies.
Information from the events is being recorded in digital formats so it can be accessed by people unable to attend.
