Coal chain spotlight’s reform

THE ‘mine to ship’ review of Queensland’s Goonyella coal supply chain would be seen by international customers as a reinforcement of the state’s position as the world’s leading coal export province, according to the Queensland Resources Council (QRC).

“The review is about identifying the underlying factors shaping the performance of the supply chain, and what can be done to overcome any perceived or actual constraints on the system,” QRC chief executive Michael Roche said.

“As a former chief executive of rail freight operator Pacific National and former executive general manager of a Mount Isa Mines business unit, Stephen O’Donnell is highly qualified to conduct this review and make the recommendations necessary to improve the system’s transparency, throughput and forward planning,” he said.
