Emergency response personnel from 15 mining operations participated in one of Western Australia’s leading mine rescue training exercises held in the Goldfields.
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) Annual Surface Mine Emergency Response Competition challenged the fifteen teams with life-like scenarios to test their preparedness in the event of a real emergency.
The Event was held at the Australian Prospector’s and Miner’s Hall of Fame in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and was observed by more than 2,500 members of the general public.
Anglo Gold Ashanti Sunrise Dam was the overall winner for the day, improving on last year’s 3rd place.
The team was headed by Michael Nugus who also won Best Captain.
BHP Billiton’s Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter & Concentrator came second, followed by Gold Fields Agnew.
