Workers in rural Queensland’s mining industry will soon have another air travel option to and from Cloncurry, with Brisbane-based SkyAirWorld soon to be operating a scheduled service.
From August, subject to regulatory approval, SkyAirWorld will operate a scheduled service between Brisbane, Cloncurry and Cairns, using the 48-seat ERJ-145 aircraft.
The route was identified by SkyAirWorld as one of Australia’s many under-serviced regional communities.
The airline believes a scheduled jet service to Cloncurry will support local industry, particularly the fly-in, fly-out mining sector, as well as provide a high-speed, comfortable alternative to the greater Cloncurry community.
According to the company, SkyAirWorld is the first airline to operate the Embraer ERJ-145 jet in Australia. The jet is designed specifically for regional flight operations and offers greater fuel efficiency, longer flight distances and superior comfort than other jets and turboprops.
