The Australian film industry is coming to the Hunter Valley, with the officially launch of the third annual Dungog Film Festival.
Sponsored by NSW Mining and running over four days from the 28th to the 31st May, Dungog is a non-competitive festival featuring exclusively Australian films.
According to NSW Mining chief executive Nikki Williams, the festival is a chance to both highlight the relationship between the film and mining industries, as well as to bring a significant cultural event to regional Australia.
“Through this partnership, as principal presenting sponsor, we’ve trashed perceptions that men in dark suits, called the ‘captains of industry’, can’t focus further than a spreadsheet,” she said at the festival launch.
“This festival helps redress the current imbalance of cultural events in regional Australia.
“It’s also a big economic boost, not just to Dungog but also to the wider Hunter community, bringing new industries, widening tourism, expanding local infrastructure and services.”
