Breaking News: Miner killed at Boggabri coal mine

A worker has been killed at the Boggabri Coal Mine.

It is understood that he sustained trauma to the head and neck after being struck by “some sort of structure”, NSW Ambulance Media has said.

The worker was a construction rigger in his 40s, contracted to work on the Boggabri Coal Expansion Project.

Ambulance staff were arrived at the scene on Leard Forest Road in Boggabri at 8:50am this morning.

CPR was performed, but the man went into traumatic cardiac arrest and died at the scene.

Idemitsu said that all mining operations have ceased at the site until further notice, and that NSW Police and workplace authorities are investigating the incident.

Idemitsu extended their deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased, saying that their main priority was to provide the appropriate support and assistance to family and workmates.
