Australian light vehicle parts supplier Autoline has unveiled two new prop shaft designs for Toyota LandCruisers, developed specifically for mining fleets.
The company, which describes itself as a “mining first” supplier, dedicates a large part of its research and development to the mining industry, with new products always directly influenced by feedback from clients.
Autoline believes most mine owners, operators or contractors can be placed into two camps when it comes to light vehicle maintenance. They either want parts that last longer – to extend lifespan and reduce breakdowns, or they’re lookingfor significant cost saving on the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) without sacrificing quality.
Autoline’s two new prop shaft designs are designed to offer something for both these groups.
The TAKEO Premium+ prop shaft features a fully sealed, non-greaseable design for the universal joints, removing the ability for ingress completely. This ‘sealed-for-life’ design is quite common in heavy-diesel machinery, which is where Autoline took its inspiration from.
The Premium+ prop shaft also boasts a heavy-duty design with larger uni joints, a bigger bore, and a triple stage seal protecting the spline.
The upgraded specs come with a higher price tag than most prop shafts on the market, but that’s what Autoline’s clients have come to expect for dedication to parts that last longer. The higher unit cost comes with a longer lifespan, reducing costly downtime in the future.
The TAKEO Pure prop shaft is the cost-efficient alternative.
The mining industry is volatile, and it’s no secret that companies are always on the lookout to reduce their operating expenses. Autoline recognises that an easy place to start is with mobile assets and maintenance.
The TAKEO Pure prop shaft provides a significant cost saving against the OEM unit, without sacrificing quality. The new product is re-engineered based on the Toyota Genuine specs, with some slight tweaks to better suit mine-site maintenance.
Most notably, the grease points have been moved to the endcaps of the universal joint, making it far more accessible to fitters for re-greasing at scheduled service intervals. Keeping the universal joints adequately serviced and greased goes a long way to protecting it from seizure, so the grease points relocation acts as a way to make maintenance quicker and easier for site fitters.
While Autoline don’t claim this unit lasts any longer than the OEM alternative, for sites that aren’t extremely harsh or light-duty vehicles – it presents a valuable cost saving when applied across a large fleet.
