Austmine cultivates collaboration

A new short course from Austmine has been designed specifically for mining equipment, technology and services (METS) companies to explore the competitive benefits arising from a diverse workforce.

The course, dubbed Diversity and Inclusion: Cultivating Collaborative Teams, was designed by expert consultants Psynapse and is targeted at business owners, team leaders and team members who want to understand how they can contribute to a more innovative workforce.

Designed as a four-part series, the course will showcase what leading METS companies are doing to foster innovation in their companies and equip participants with the tools needed to leverage diversity and inclusion.

The four short modules are:

  1. The Business Case
  2. Why Inclusion is Challenging: Unconscious Bias
  3. The Heart, Head and Habits of Inclusion
  4. Inclusive Talent Processes

Each module targets a specific aspect of diversity and inclusion, providing insights, strategies and practical tips.

The course is part of Austmine’s Accelerating Women in METS program, which facilitates female recruitment and retention in METS through connecting female STEM university students to METS mentors, coaching and internships.

“Australia has a world leading METS sector but to continue to grow and disrupt it needs a more diverse workforce and attracting, retaining and progressing females is critical for the future of the sector,” Austmine said.

“To address the under-representation of women in the sector and the STEM skills shortage more generally, Austmine is pleased to offer the Accelerating Women in METS program, which builds on the success of the Women in STEM and STEM METS Career Pathway Programs that Austmine has delivered for over five years.”
