The human element of mining technology is set to be a major focus of next week’s Austmine conference in Brisbane.
The exhibition, where global industry thought leaders will gather to discuss the next horizon for mining, is scheduled for May 21-23 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It will include presentations from miners, METS, academia and government, placing a special focus on the future role of human input into the mining value chain and how companies are enabling workers to create a culture of ideas.
The topics of augmented reality in the minerals processing plant, changing workforce expectation and the productive use of new technology will be explored by senior manager at Schneider Electric, Greg Johnson.
“Along with other game-changing technologies like digital cloud, mobility, analytics and cybersecurity, augmented reality will fundamentally alter and improve the way information is consumed and decisions are made,” he said.
“Even though we are still at the beginning of the digital transformation and operating models are still in flux, nonetheless, there are compelling use cases for augmented reality today as well as lots of room for new ideas.”
International speakers will also be present at the event with Antamina Mining being represented by manager of information, technology, telecommunications and process control, Rafael Estrada Hora from Peru.
“This conference is an excellent opportunity to hear from great speakers, as well as establish contact with the miners and suppliers that make the development of our mining business possible,” he said.
The conference will also feature Mark Boon, general manager transformation and effectiveness at Evolution Mining, who will discuss creating a pathway for transformation opportunities and improved business effectiveness.
Rob Cunningham, mining operations manager at CMOC’s Northparkes Mines, will also join the session, to discuss how it is driving an improved innovation culture at its operations which embrace the latest block cave mining technologies.
Further to these presentations, other key conference themes include intelligent equipment, the role of analytics, data and security, sustainability, as well as integration and connectivity.
Austmine will also provide the opportunity to network with industry leaders with events outside the full conference program.
The event will culminate with the Industry Leaders’ Dinner and Awards, with the evening recognising the top innovators and exporters in the field.
