Austmine 2019 conference set to explore future technologies

Earth shattering technologies, digital efficiency and the human element of mining are some of the futuristic themes being covered at this month’s Austmine conference in Brisbane.

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 21 to 23, the conference will feature top thought leaders from around the globe who will decipher the challenges facing the sector’s Next Horizon.

Included in the roll call of senior mining industry guest speakers will be representatives from global players such as Orica, BHP, Codelco, Newmont Mining, Woodside Energy and Anglo American.

A variety of key topics related to forthcoming issues in the industry will be discussed from both an equipment and methodology perspective.

Featured topics to be explored include a deep dive into Intelligent Equipment: Earth Shattering Technologies, with a focus on new machinery and techniques, including autonomous heavy vehicles, sensors, drilling and artificial intelligence.

Focus will also be placed on the field of Analytics, Data and Security: The Changing Winds, with the latest developments in digital efficiencies, analytics and data systems that are leading the transformation of the mining industry.

Austmine 2019 will also unearth the latest digital innovations, with a theme of Integration and Connectivity: A Breath of Fresh Air, which will challenge the status quo of the industry, with the push towards fully connected mining.

Finally, Striving Towards Sustainability: A Sea Change is Coming, will examine how the industry is moving towards sustainability with the adoption of new technologies, renewable energy sources, and world-class processes for water and waste management.

“Austmine 2019 is really about identifying, unpacking and evaluating the future trends in the mining industry that are related to innovation,” Austmine chief executive officer Christina Gibbs Stewart said.

The exhibition will consist of the core conference itself and a series of interactive workshops, plus a multi-day interactive exhibition showcasing the latest innovation and technology from over 90 world leading companies.

A series of networking opportunities will also be available highlighted by the Austmine Industry Leaders’ Dinner and Awards on the evening of May 22.
